Plymouth Soundhouse Training Brass Band is made up of around 25 youngsters and a few adult learners all wanting to play in a band and improve their playing.

Attendance is free of charge with musical tuition provided from Emma Heard (Musical Director) and a team of tutors from the senior band.  We can also lend instruments free of charge for children wanting to join the band.
                                 
The Training band perform in concerts and compete in the Saltash Music Festival each year and recently came 2nd in their first Competition at Torquay.



The Youth Band rehearse every week on Thursday evenings from 6.00-7.30pm at the Soundhouse, Tor High Community College, Estover, Plymouth.
We are really pleased to welcome
back Emma as the Musical Director
of Soundhouse Youth Band. It is of
course the training Band she first
set up in 2003.

She brings with her a vast amount of musical experience
in both teaching (conducts her own primary school brass
band ‘Widewell Brass’) and performance, grade 8 in both
Trumpet & Piano.

As a classically trained pianist she studied trumpet, piano and conducting with Joseph Horovitz at the Royal College of Music and gained BA(Hons) in Band studies from the University of Sheffield under the tutelage of Arthur Butterworth, Darrol Barry and Richard Evans.

In 2006 with Soundhouse Brass, she won the Best Section player at Bugle Contest and in the same year won the soloist prize at the Exmouth Entertainment Contest.
