Retired from banding
Tony Eastland - Eb Bass
Bugle 2011
The Soundhouse Brass Training Band battled against the weather and the odds and produced their own storm at wind-battered Bugle in Cornwall.
The storm clouds gathered but the rain stayed away as MD Emma Heard led the band of learners to 2nd place out of 4 bands in the training band section, with daughter Kirsty taking the award for the best solo cornet in the section.
Tony was an Eb bass for many years (including service as a musician in the Royal Marines). It is very sad to see him "hanging-up" his mouthpiece after many years service for the band.
Tony - from everyone at Soundhouse Brass

Once again the band were pleased to be asked to be guest performers at TVBES's (Tavistock Versatile Brass Ensemble) annual Proms Concert which this year, once again, took place the STERTS Theatre in Cornwall
A full STERTS created a Royal Albert Hall atmosphere for the Last Night of the Proms. Flag waving, laughter, crying, and plenty of singing, accompanied a regular whistle, clap, or stamp of feet. The first half of the concert featured a wealth of local talent with TVBES, the STERT Singers, a solo spot by renowed local tenor Tyrone Piper, a duet together with Jan' Distin. The second half opened with Sound House Brass Band conducted by Kevin Robins. The band played the recent Exmouth programme: Belford's Carnival March, Laura (Flugal Solo - Emma Heard), Gael Force, I'll Walk With God and Phillip Harpers arr of Circle of life, with Kalinka thrown in. Following the band, Rob Young & Young at Heart (a vocal group featuring Simon Prout, Paul Zaple, Tracey Loveridge & Janet Distin). The evening concluded with a tradition LNoP feel with Pomp and Circumstance, Fantasia on British Sea Songs, and Janet Distin, joining the band to conclude with a rousing Jeruselum. Fireworks and entertainment start to fininsh.
