The senior band would like to give a very warm welcome to Alice. At just 12 years old, Alice is now our youngest member of the senior band!

Alice began her journey with Soundhouse Brass Band two years ago when she joined Soundhouse Youth Brass Band. Alice has only been playing the cornet for three years, having been introduced to the instrument by her primary school teacher, Emma Heard. In these three years she has improved her skill and technique really well.

Alice enjoys practicing with the Youth band each week and has performed with them on several occasions at both Bugle and Torquay contest. The bands annual engagements have also given Alice the opportunity to play at concerts such as the summer and Christmas concerts and indeed at many other venues in and around the South West region.

Alice practices playing her cornet throughout the week and recently achieved a well-deserved success in her Grade 4 examination. Both her musical progress and her commitment to the Youth band were noticed by the senior band and she was soon encouraged and invited to come along to senior band rehearsals. She delightedly accepted the invitation and has quickly established herself as a treasured and much liked member of the band and is a valued asset to the cornet section. Alice particularly enjoys the new challenges of playing test pieces for upcoming contests, as well as traditional brass band pieces that the banding community are familiar with.

In addition to being given the opportunity to improve her musical development, Alice enjoys the social aspects of band and has made some good friendships with both Youth and Senior band members. Pictured above, Alice is stood next to her older brother Ben who has also come up through the Youth band. He is also a valued member of the senior band, playing baritone, and continues to play Euphonium in the Youth band, encouraging and supporting the younger members.

We are extremely delighted that Alice is now a member of the senior band and have no doubt that she will continue to progress and grow more as an amazing talented musician!
