Gary Thompson - 1st Baritone
Gary started playing Horn at the tender age of only 7 with The Salvation Army in Barnet. He moved to Torquay at the age of 22 and joined Devon Fire & Rescue Band playing Euphonium. Due to work and family commitments Gary had to give up playing for a few years. In 2003 Gary moved to Plymouth and in November 2006 joined Soundhouse Brass on cornet. Gary is married and is a HGV lorry driver.
Abi Menyena - 2nd Baritone
Abi began playing the trumpet aged 9 having proved to be unable to read bass and treble clef at the same time and get both hands to work (she was rubbish at piano). She then played French Horn in local windbands and orchestras in Manchester. Abi stopped playing aged 18 when she went to University in Leicester as all her studying (at the pub) left her with no free time. She later sold her Horn and brought a motorbike...
It seemed for many many years that she would never play again, until November 2007 when her sister finally persuaded her to join Soundhouse and a whole new world of brass banding opened up to her. Abi works as a Police Officer in Plymouth.
